My Sheryl Experience
Finally it happened and here it is..the story of the historic meeting! ha, ha... (I thought adding a little humor may make the story seem more dramatic) My friend Tom and I attended the Lilith Fair the Tweeter Center on Tuesday, August 3, 1999.
Once we got there I had approached a few people wearing "Event Staff" shirts inside the venue because I had a print made of a piece of art work that I created based on Sheryl's struggle with depression. One guy told me to look for people that had all access passes and ask if I could talk to someone in Sheryl's crew.
So, I was pretty doubtful about meeting her by then, but my friend Tom
and I
were walking back from Kendall
Payne's set, towards the main stage and all of a
sudden I look up and there
is Sheryl and her violinist Lorenza just walking along and no one was bothering
them...so I looked at Tom and he said just go talk to her...so I went up
to Sheryl and said excuse me, told her about the print and gave it to her,
she shook my hand and said that she really appreciated it.
Then introduced me to Lorenza...then she commented on how cool my Sheryl Crow T-shirt was and that she had never seen that one before, I told her I designed it and made it on my computer...and I gave her the one I made for her...she seemed psyched. She then signed my Globe Sessions cd cover and continued to talk to me, while she was signing autographs for other people.
Then she noticed the logo on the back of the shirt which was the logo and
address of my Sheryl Crow
site..she seemed pretty interested and said that
she would try to check it
out. Then she noticed my friend Tom behind me and was like "Oh you're with
Jess," patted me on the shoulder and signed his cd cover...then I asked
for a picture with her, but by then a crowd was forming and she said that
she had to go...she thanked me for all the stuff I had given her.
I apologized for the crowd, I felt bad because no one was really bothering
her before I started talking to her...she was VERY cool and friendly. It
was very unreal. So that's the story..we talked for like 15 minutes...she
was really down to earth and awesome!
