Sheryl Quotes
"I loved it when Ayn Rand (author of “The
Fountainhead”) said that fame is nothing more
than a coat of paint. That really is the
way it is."
“Some of my best moments have actually come out of a paper bag…haven’t they?”
“Its really important that we know that
every 22 minutes a child is killed by a land mine
and there are a 110 million of them throughout
the universe. It would just be really great
if people knew all the facts about that
and actually spoke out….its needless.”
“Among the men and women, the multitude
I perceive one picking me out. By secret
and divine signs acknowledging no one
else, not parent, wife, husband, brother or child,
any nearer than I am, some are baffled,
but that one is not…that one knows me.”
- Excerpt from Walt Whitman's “Leaves
of Grass”
“That's basically all I want to do is have some fun before I die.”
“All I Wanna Do was actually the throw
away track of my album. It was one that wasn't
going to go on my album. I've actually
felt that way about a lot of my hits, they were all
throw away tracks and well…here I am.”
“You really have to get in and do the work, and try to become a better version of yourself everyday. Instead of praying or hoping for the right person for you, its great if you concentrate on becoming the kind of person that will attract what would be great for you.”
“Often times you don't really get to meet
people first hand that are really fans, that are
really sort of into the work.”
“This song is about finding home and I think you have to find home kind of within yourself.”
“You dream it, and then you do it.”
"Ain't nothing like regret, to remind you you're alive."
"Making miracles is hard work, most people give up before they happen."
"I feel like the Julia Roberts of rock & roll....geez its just a haircut."
"This song is about waiting a little too
long to change all those things you needed to change...
so you wake up and you go...hey I changed
all those things you didn't like, you should come back and check me out,
because I know you'd like me know...hey where'd you go?"
"I'm a loser at love...I'm a flower in the mud."
"I never got into this to be famous...I
got into it to be great. That was the thing...I wanted
to be great and there is a lot of responsibility
in that."
JessBrasil: As someone who is in the public eye, do you feel a certain necessity to work on projects that are beneficial to certain issues or causes (such as AIDS) in order to heighten the general public's awareness of the issue?
SHERYL CROW: Yes, I do. I think that, luckily,
I have the advantage of being extremely visible and I can bring attention
to issues. A lot of issues don't necessarily need me. There are many issues
that are close to my heart. Like scoladera and the land mine issue that
I feel
compelled to work on. Those things not
only drive my music but drive me to be a better person.
